There is nothing better than to bundle up and head outside to enjoy the great outdoors in a scenic winter wonderland. Planning to coincide it with a fun winter festival and a candlelight trail event at a state park is even better.

Head to Waupaca, WI for the weekend of January 24th. Start with being a spectator (or contact the Waupaca Area Chamber of Commerce to see about availability to be a participant) at the second annual Wintervergnügen Pond Hockey Classic. It is being held in Waupaca's South Park on Shadow Lake. This is also where the Waupaca Area Triathlon is held in August and is located on south Main Street. Experience the game the way it was meant to be played. Teams will square off against their opponents, and the winter elements, in a spirited competition. Each team is guaranteed three games with the first puck dropping Saturday morning.

Not only will you enjoy some fun hockey action, but there will also be a number of other winter activities such as kayak sledding and snowshoe demos, organized by Adventure Outfitters. If you want to get warm and toasty and have a hot chocolate or some lunch, a heated tent will be located on the ice near the rinks just off the shore of Lower South Park, for your enjoyment.

After an afternoon of winter fun, come and check in at the Apple Tree Lane Bed & Breakfast, located a short 2 miles from the Wintervergnugen festival site. Relax in the Inn's common area's and get toasty by the fireplace as you sip a hot chocolate and put your feet up. Then, warm up your cross-country skis or snowshoes on the Inn's 7.5 acres to get you ready for the Hartman Creek State Park's annual Candlelight trail. It is being held on Saturday, January 25th from 5-8pm. It is an enchanting event.

After a full day of winter fun, you can look forward to a restful night back in your luxury accommodations at the Inn.

Don't count the days to summer---embrace winter in Waupaca! See you soon!
