Oh, it is not just the hunters that look forward to the opening of the Wisconsin deer hunting season. The Deer Widows Weekend, beginning November 22nd, is the time to leave the hunters in the fields and head out for some fun, friends, and festivities.
Tradition states that art and craft sales are usually an important part of this weekend. If this is true for you, Waupaca should be your destination! If you go to our Chamber website listing/brochure/map of all the art & craft sales in the area, it will give you all of the information to plan your weekend.
In addition to spending some great time with friends, it is a great way to jump start your holiday shopping. You will find many wonderful handmade one-of-a-kind items for that hard to find person on your shopping list.
A favorite in the area that you should not miss is the Scandinavian Christmas boutique. This is located in Waupaca's Fox Valley Technical College. There you will find art & crafts but also live demonstrations, woodworking, rose maling, treats, and more.
There will be plenty of bake sale items to purchase throughout the area, so you can pick up some goodies to enjoy with the venison that your hunter will be sharing with you?!
Why not make a weekend out of it with your friends and stay the night at the Apple Tree Lane Bed & Breakfast. Enjoy some complimentary beverages and appetizers alongside a warm fire when you return from shopping, and let us recommend some great places for dinner (or order some pizza and stay in!). Get a restful night sleep in one of our comfortable rooms with nice amenities, and let us serve you a full homemade breakfast in the morning, before you leave to enjoy the next day in the Waupaca area! Happy "hunting" everyone!
